Getting Ready for 2020 – Running a Better Business With Some Assistance from Black Friday/Cyber Monday Promotion!

Empowering SMEs (Issue 052)

What sort of Small Business or Medium Sized Enterprise do you envisage operating or working at in 2020?

Does your business have a “vision” for the next three to five years?

Have discussions been held on the development of policies and strategies to assist in attracting outstanding people and retaining the good people that you already have?

Does your business have a leadership team that is able to work with the Board of Directors and lead the team towards achieving the business’ vision?

Have strategies been developed for all aspects of the business including operations, marketing, sales, development of intellectual property, expansion, talent development?

Is there an understanding of how these strategies will be implemented – by whom – by when – by which criteria will the performance be measured?

Does your business have enough cash resources to finance the business’ operations as you envisage them over the next three to five years?

Is there an understanding that as a business grows it normally needs more finance to fund increasing levels of inventory, debtors, research and development, new plant and equipment, training of team members?

There are some attractive financing options currently available and about to happen for small businesses and medium sized enterprises.

New businesses which have developed new products, services and technologies could be classified as an “Early Stage Innovation Company” to take advantage of this special status to attract investors.

Companies with turnovers up to $25 million can now utilise “Crowd Sourced Funding Equity Raising” to raise capital of up to $5 million in a twelve month period from the public.

The Australian government in conjunction with the banking industry has announced the creation of the “Australian Business Growth Fund” which will make “patient share investments” in 30 to 50 companies with turnovers from $2 million-$50 million annually from 2020.
